Central Mansions wishes you prosperity and joyful family gathering during the Pchum Ben Festival!
For those who are not familiar with this festival, Pchum Ben (Khmer: បុណ្យភ្ជុំបិណ្ឌ; “Ancestors’ Day”) is a 15-day Cambodian religious festival, culminating in celebrations on the 15th day of the tenth month in the Khmer calendar, at the end of the Buddhist lent, Vassa.
This festival is dedicated to honour and care for the spirits of the ancestors, who are believed to return to Earth during this time. It is one of the most culturally significant in Cambodia. Each household visits their pagodas of choice and offers food to the monks, which is a meritorious act and is one of most common rituals of Buddhism. During the Pchum Ben festival, pagodas are awash with people and offerings of food, incense and money to aid the ancestors and diseased loved ones in the afterlife.
In 2018, Pchum Ben falls between September 26 to October 10, the last three days (October 8 to 10) are a public holiday and the acme of the activities.
Enjoy your wonderful family reunion!
